The lodge is located near some of the most beautiful vacation spots around.
While the lodge itself is nestled in woodlands, it’s a quick trip to some pretty epic sights, tastes, and to-dos. Here are a few of our recommendations, in case you decide to extend your trip.
Lost Sierra
0 - 20 MINUTES
This tucked away corner of the Sierra Nevada mountain range is largely unspoiled, despite stunning alpine lakes and peaks up 8,500 feet. There are great hikes, swimmable lakes (check out Gold Lake in Lakes Basin), and tons of spots to camp, fish, mountain bike, or go horseback riding.
Lake Tahoe
40 MINUTES SOUTH
Arguably one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, Lake Tahoe is known for its beaches, crystal clear waters, boating, mountain sports, and scenic hikes. It’s one of our favorite places to be. At almost 200mi², you could easily spend days exploring and hardly scratch the surface. We recommend taking a clear kayak or paddleboard along the shoreline, jet skiing, going for an easy stroll down East Shore Trail, or launching a raft down the Truckee river. Parking can be tricky at some of the popular spots, so plan ahead or take a shuttle.
Apple Hill Farms & El Dorado Wine Trail
3 HOURS SOUTH
The town of Placerville, CA, about an hour east of Sacramento, is home to some of the most charming farms and vineyards around. With over 70 wineries and 50 open-to-the-public farms (check out Apple Hill for a list), it’s a hit with both foodies and kiddos. In July, they’ll be harvesting cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, and berries, with tons of You Pick Farms, shops, and awesome eateries. Plus the nearby El Dorado Wine Trail gives Napa a run for its money.
